Faith Food Ministry is always looking for help! Our next Food Ministry will take place on January 19th. The Faith Food Ministry distributes food on the first and third Fridays of the month from 2-3pm.
If you're interested in helping out or if you have questions, please contact Colette Carter.
This coming Sunday is UMW Sunday here at Fargo Faith! Both services will be driven by UMW members
volunteering to aid in worship! UMW members will serve as Ushers, Greeters, and Lay Readers in addition
to providing special music, handling Children's Time, serving Fellowship treats, and giving testimonials
about what UMW means to them.
If you are interested in joining UMW, information booklets will be handed out to all women on Sunday, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to visit with UMW members to learn more about the organization.
We look forward to a great UMW Sunday and thank the ladies of UMW for all that they do!
We invite you to join us on Wednesday nights for a five-week study and discussion on the topic of making sense of the scriptures and the bible!
As the United Methodist Church discusses the topic of sexuality and the potential split in our denomination, this is an important time to improve your biblical literacy. Many Christians say the scriptures are difficult to read and understand. What is your level of biblical literacy: an elementary student, middle-school, high school, or beyond?
Pastor Adam Hamilton has written a marvelous book: Making Sense of the Bible, to help you understand how the scriptures were written and give you a great foundation for understanding the text. This book can help us read the Bible together by giving us a good foundational understanding of the Good News.
Here are the topics we'll discuss each week:
01-10 Making Sense of the Old Testament
01-17 Making Sense of the New Testament
01-24 Questions about the Nature of Scripture
01-31 The Bible and Science
02-07 Wrestling with Issues of Sexuality and Relationships
Optional study books are available for $10 in the office.
Dinner is served at 6pm, music and prayers take place at 6:30pm, and the study and discussion begins at 6:45pm. We hope to see you on Wednesday night!
As we begin 2018, I'd like to lead the district in an important training opportunity. It's been a while, I believe, since we have held a
comprehensive Pastor/Staff Parish Committee training. The purpose of the training is to of course help PPR committees to function
more effectively in support and evaluation of the pastors/staff, but also to give them some tools on how the relationship between the
pastor and the congregation can be improved and maintained.
I hope to make it a fun time for everyone, and to strengthen the work of this critical committee in each of our congregations. I would expect the meeting to last about 2-3 hours at the most.
I'm proposing a training in Fargo on Saturday, February 3rd, from 1-3:30pm. The location of the training is still to be determined.
I would like to invite all pastors, and all chairs and members of the PPR committee or its equivalent to join in this meeting. I also believe that it's critical that as many laypersons as possible attend.
PLEASE CONTACT PASTOR RAY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING!
Thanks for your help on this - I would like for well-trained committees to support you more fully in this area. It's tough work however you do it, and so let's make it a little easier if possible!
