faith united methodist church

THE United methodist church

  • We're the second largest Protestant denomination in the US.
  • We're 11 million + people in more than 125 countries, growing fastest in Africa and the Philippines.
  • Rosa Parks, the African-American lady who refused to give up her seat on the bus, was Methodist.
  • Chelsea Clinton, Jennifer Garner, Beyonce, and Pauley Perrette (Abbey from NCIS) are United Methodists.  Cool, huh?

OUTREACH: We are convinced that the church does not exist for itself but also for those beyond the walls of our building.  We seek to intentionally share our faith with those not connected to a church so that they may know of God's great love for them.

"And I pray that you share your faith with others it will grip their lives too, as they see the wealth of good things in you that come from Christ Jesus."  Philemon 1:6

MISSIONS:We seek to live our faith in action that alleviates human suffering both locally and globally.

"God's Spirit is one me;  He's chosen me to preach the message of good news to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recover of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free."  Luke 4:18

FAMILIES AND CHILDREN: We value family life, in all it's forms, and seek to bring families closer together.  We seek to include children in our ministries and ensure their safety among us.

"Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs."  Matthew 19:14

RELEVANT WORSHIP: We esteem worship as the central act of the church.  We seek to be relevant to people of different generations and backgrounds so that all can praise God in ways that best connect to to God.

"Suppose some strangers are in your worship service, when you are praising God with your spirit.  If they don't understand yo, how will they know when to say 'Amen'?  You may be worshiping God in a wonderful way, but no one else will be helped."

These words pretty much describe us to a tee.  After all, we came up with them and live by them.

Acceptance: We embrace diversity, understanding that all people are loved by God.  We seek to create a non-judgmental, grace filled, environment that welcomes all people.

"We are no longer Jews or Greeks or slaves or free or merely men and women, but are all the same - we are Christians; we are one in Christ Jesus"  Galatians 3:28

SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION: We understand that no one is perfect but, with God's help, we can learn new ways of living and being that makes us more and more like Christ.  We seek to build the foundation for people to grow in ChrisT-like character.

"And then take on an entirely new way of life - a God fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces God's character in you." Ephesians 4:22
