In 1955 eighty-five members of First Methodist church in downtown Fargo chartered the northside church and named it “Faith”. At the time 19th Ave. was a gravel road and was the northern edge of the fairgrounds. Founding members worshipped in a wooden former Lutheran church building that was moved to the site until the current sanctuary was built in 1963. In 1976 the fellowship hall was built. A milestone was reached in 1991 when the parking lot was paved.
As the city has grown Faith United Methodist now stands on a busy corner in north Fargo within walking distance of the NDSU campus and the Fargo Dome. The fairgrounds have been relocated to West Fargo. The congregation has matured with the neighborhood and continues to thrive.
